Frequently asked questions

Which complaints should bring me to a cardiologist?

Come to us for chest pain or tightness, shortness of breath, palpitations, dizziness and fainting, high blood pressure, heavy sweating and fatigue — and also if you carry risk factors such as a family history of early heart disease, diabetes or high cholesterol.

Are echocardiography and the exercise test painful?

No. Echocardiography uses ultrasound and is painless. The exercise test is no more than walking on a treadmill, with a doctor and health staff beside you throughout.

How should I prepare for the exercise test?

Avoid a heavy meal in the 2–3 hours before the test, and bring comfortable clothes and trainers. Always ask your doctor before stopping any heart medication.

Can I carry on with daily life while wearing the Holter monitor?

Yes. You are asked to live your day as usual; you only need to avoid showering and must not remove the device. Once the recording period ends, our doctor reviews it.

Don't put off your heart check

If you have chest pain, palpitations or high blood pressure, book an appointment for a cardiology assessment.
